One Human Family Since 2002, World Refugee Day Chicago (WRDC) has commemorated World Refugee Day by organizing events, workshops, conferences, lunches, street parades, downtown rallies, guest speakers, as well as diverse multicultural performances by members of the Chicago refugee community. WRD Chicago is organized by volunteers, refugee advocates, and staff from various organizations focused on welcoming and serving refugees. |

The theme for World Refugee Day 2026 is "Solidarity with Refugees". This theme emphasizes turning sympathy into action, welcoming refugees into local communities, and ensuring they can work, thrive, and contribute. The 2026 Chicago community celebration is made possible by support from individuals, event partners, and The Reva and David Logan Foundation.
*All organizations tabling at the event must bring their own tables and chairs!
